GTA 6 Delayed Again: Rockstar Confirms November 2026 Release Date

Rockstar Games has made a decision to postpone the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), the game that was much awaited by players, confirming that it will now be on November 19, 2026. The developer said it requires more time for development to ensure that the game will be up to its internal quality standards.

This announcement has officially designated GTA 6’s release date twice biting the dust. First, it was planned for a Fall 2025 release but it was subsequently pushed to May 2026 and now finally, the current one. The company pointed out that the setback was to avoid technical problems, including bugs and glitches that would result from a quick launch.

GTA 6 has been in the works for over a decade after the December 2013 release of Grand Theft Auto V, which has sold more than 220 million copies worldwide. The first official teaser for GTA 6, released in December 2023, broke several online viewer records indicating the great excitement among gamers.

The new chapter will first come out on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Just like in the past, the PC version is anticipated to arrive after that, but Rockstar has yet to provide a specific time frame.

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar, has not changed its earnings expectations even with the delay, which is an indicator of the company's trust in the game’s revenue. The analysts think that the delay could sell more during the holiday of the 2026 season.

Delays are a regular occurrence for Rockstar Games. Likewise, a year was added to the release schedule for Red Dead Redemption 2 but the game ended up being widely praised. The same happened with the release of GTA IV which was five years later than that of its predecessor. Industry watchers observe that Rockstar constantly puts development quality first, no matter if it causes delays or not.
